Professor Soumitra Dutta is currently the Dean of Saïd Business School, Oxford University – one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the world. Concurrently Professor Dutta is the Founder and Chairman of Portulans Academy. He is also the Chair of the Board of Global Business School Network and is member of the advisory boards of world-renowned business schools, such as HEC Montréal (Canada), ESADE (Spain), and Los Andes University (Columbia). Professor Soumitra Dutta has presented multiple times during The World Economic Forum, and recently, he joined as a member of Prize Council for the VinFuture Prize. Previously, he held the position of President of AACSB International (the accrediting orgnization for the world’s top business schools) and the Founding Dean of the SC Johnson School of Business at Cornell University.
Professor Soumitra Dutta is the co-developer of Global Innovation Index (GII). GII is an annual ranking of competence and success in innovation of nations and is published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The 2022 GII report provides analysis of 132 economies, representing 94.3% of the world’s population.
Professor Dutta’s area of research focuses on driving innovation and business growth through the effective co-operation of human capabilities and technology. His research has been published in some of the world’s most prestigious journals such as Journal of Law and Innovations, Materials Today Physics, WIPO, WEF, etc. He has also made significant contributions to the understanding of the impact of information technology on national development and competitiveness through his research on the Global Information Technology Report for the World Economic Forum. With his extensive expertise and leadership experience, Professor Dutta continues to shape the discourse of innovation, technology and their meanings for businesses and the global economy.
